鈴鹿高校と練習試合 Practice Matches

 今日は三重より鈴鹿高等学校男女テニス部に来ていただき練習試合を行った。鈴鹿高校男子テニス部とはこの８年間余りの間毎年何度も練習試合をさせていただいているが、今回も中身濃い意味のある練習試合となった。６面のオムニコートを男女３面ずつ使用して１日試合を行った。男子の練習試合は各校１３名ずつで行った。人数が少し多かったことと、ほとんどの試合が接戦であったため試合時間が長くかかり、試合数は思ったほどこなすことはできなかったが、力の拮抗した試合が多く、実のある練習試合となった。個々の技術的、精神的、体力的な弱点がはっきりと出た試合が多く、これから取り組んでいかなければいけない課題はそれぞれはっきりしている。日々取り組んでいる練習の成果は確実に現れてきているが、次の京都ジュニアの予選まで１０日を切り、今からできることは限られている。２年生にとっては最後のジュニアの大会ということもあり、体調をしっかり管理し、ベストな状態で臨みたい。この１週間は、狭山高校、履正社高校との練習試合、立命館大学庭球部の練習への参加など、試合に向けてよい実践的な経験を積める機会が盛りだくさんである。是非生かしてほしい。

We had Suzuka High School over for practice matches today.  We have met each other for practice matches many times every year in the last eight years.  We have always had many comepetiive matches in the past and today, it was the case again today.  We were able to have many meaningful matches.  We could use only three courts for thirteen players for each team and many of the matches were very close and long, so we couldn't play as many matches as we had wanted to.  Nonetheless, every match was competitive and worth the time.  Those matches made the boys realize what they need to work on physically, techiniically and mentally from now on.  They have less than ten days before their next tournament starts, so what they can do by then is quite limited.  The next Kyoto Junior is the last junior tournament for the second-year boys.  I hope they will do their best to be best prepared for the tournament to get good results there.   We have many practice matches scheduled for the next week including practice with the Ritsumeikan University tennis team.  I hope the boys will make the most of those opportunities.
