明日からインターハイ１次予選

いよいよ３年生にとっての最後の大会が明日から始まる。明日はダブルスの予選が行われるが、今日は試合に備えて緊張する場面を想定した形式練習を多く行った。３年生にとっては泣いても笑っても最後の大会となるがそれぞれのブロックでシードされているかどうかにかかわらず、全力でプレーし一人でも多くの選手が本戦に進出してほしい。新１年生も参加するインターハイ予選は高体連の大会でも最もレベルの高い大会で予選を上がることも容易ではない。まずは相手を意識せず自分のできることに集中してプレーしてほしい。３年生は今までの苦しい練習や経験を自分たちの自信に変えて、勝っても負けても悔いのないプレーをしてほしい。１次予選は多くの会場に分かれて行われるため応援もない中での孤独な戦いとなるが、チームとして頑張ってきたことを思い出し、チームとして勝利することを意識してほしい。１、２年生にとっては新チーム発足後を占う大事な大会である。この大会で３年生が引退した後の勢力図が見えてくる。強豪校との力関係は苦しいところもあるが、日々の練習の成果を発揮し、新チームにつながる結果を出してほしい。

The last tournament for the third-year boys is to start tomorrow.  Today, the boys did a lot of match practice under pressure  to prepare for their matches tomorrow.  The level of this tournament is higher than any other tournament, so there will be many tough matches in store for the boys tomorrow.  Whenever they are in trouble in their matches, I want them to remember the tough times they have been through off and on the court as a team and individuals.  I'm sure they have what it takes to get through any tough situation.  They have proven that they have come so far that they are capable of coping with tough situations.  As this is the final tournament for the third-year boys, I hope they  will do their best and finish their high school tennis careers with no regrets.  It doesn't matter how far they will go in the tournament.  All that matters is whether they will feel satisfied with what they have done over the years since they entered high school when their final matches have ended.  I wish them the very best and am confident that they willl bring us a lot of good news.
