雨で延期 Rainy Day

今日は朝から一日中雨となり、予定していた中学男子テニス部の部内戦は明日へ延期となった。小雨の中数試合をこなすことはできたものの、雨足が強くなり中止せざるなかった。午後の高校の練習も雨の止み間にコートの水取りをしたものの、また雨が降り出し、結局トレーニングを短時間しかできなかった。今日のように雨が降ったり止んだりの日は練習の判断が難しく、無駄な時間が多くなってしまったので、今後はもっと早く決断していきたい。明日は高校テニス部の上位は立命館大学BKCにて大学庭球部の練習にさせていただく。大学生と練習をできる貴重な経験なのでしっかり生かしたい。学校では午後から高校生の残りの部員と中学生を混ぜた部内戦を行う。中学生にとっては仕切り直しとなるが、少しでも上のランキングに入れるように頑張ってほしい。

It was rainy all day.  The scheuded ranking matches for the junior high tennis team had to be suspended and postponed until tomorrow.  We managed to complete a few matches as it was raining on and off, but then the rain got heavier and the rest of the matches had to be cancelled.  For the high school team, we tried to get rid of the water on the courts using sponges after it had stopped raining briefly, but then it started raining again and we had to give up praciticing on the courts.  Since it was getting late, we had only a little time to do off-court training.  We should have made the decisions more quickly and then we wouldn't have had to waste so much time.  We will try to be more careful about whether to practice on the courts or not in a rainy day.  

Tomorrow, the top half of the high school team are going to practice with the university team in the Ritsumeikan University Biwako Kusatsu Campus (BKC).  I hope the boys will make the most of the opportunity to improve their games.  Meanwhile, back at home, the rest of the high school members and the junior high boys are going to play ranking matches.  I hope they will try their best to improve their rankings.
