大雪 Heavy Snow

今日の京都は数年に１度あるかないかの大雪となった。午後には雪は止んだものの、コートは一面雪一色となり練習はできなかった。明日からの練習を可能にするためにコートの除雪作業を行った。雪の量が多すぎて全ての雪を取り去ることはできなかったが、部員たちにとってはめったにできないような経験をすることができた。今日の経験のおかげで、この時期多くの学校が雪のため十分な練習ができない中、毎日思う存分練習ができる環境に対して少しは感謝することができたのではないかと思う。

We had heavy snow in Kyoto today.  We hadn't had so much snow in many years.   We couldn't practice as all the courts were covered in snow.  We picked up plows to get rid of the snow on the courts.  We didn't have enough time to clear all the snow, but it turned out to be a great experience for the boys as they can rarely have such an experience here.  I hope today's experience made them feel grateful for the fact that they can practice tennis as much as they want to while many schools in snowy areas can't practice much at the time of the year.
