莵道高校と練習試合 Practice Matches

今日４月１日を持って、２年生は３年生に、１年生は２年生にと、学年が一つずつ上がった。学年が上がることはより責任感と行動力が問われることになる。３年生は最上級生としての自覚を持ち、２年生はこれから入部してくる後輩の指導を含め、チームを引っ張っていくための心構えをしっかりと持ってほしい。

今日は午後から汗ばむ陽気の中、莵道高校テニス部に来ていただき練習試合をしていただいた。昨日の両洋高校に引き続き同じ京都府の学校との練習試合となった。自分から展開しポイントをとることを課題としてきたが、技術と自信が足りていないため、攻めた分ミスをするということが多かった。インターハイの予選まで１か月を切った今、練習の１球１球を何があってもコートに入れるという気持ちを強く持って練習に臨んでほしい。ミスをしたときはなぜそのミスをしたのかを自分でしっかりと分析し、的確にミスの原因を見つけ、そのミスを繰り返さないと強く誓ってほしい。負けた試合の悔しさを練習から全面に出していってほしい。今後残っている数少ない練習試合を何があっても勝つという姿勢を見せていってほしい。

We had practice matches with Todo High School in our school.  The boys tried to play as aggressively as they could so that they could win points on their own rather than waiting for their opponents to make errors.  However, they lost main points by errors.  Their shots are still very inconsistent, so when they hit risky shots, they're more likely to lose the points.  They need to work on the accuracy and percentage of their shots to cut down on errors.  They must play every single point in practice as if they were playing matches.  They're still making many unforced errors in practice.  Their lack of skills isn't the only cause of their errors.   Lazy footwork and lack of concentration can also cause errors.  They need to analyze their errors precisely and find out exactly what caused the errors.  Another thing is to have a strong desire to win.   The more you want to win, the harder you work.  There is only one tournament left for the third-year boys.  I hope they will try to play every single one of the remaining practice matches with the desire and passion.
