新しいスタート New Start

昨日高校３年生が卒業し、今日から中学生男子テニス部は高３生なしで練習することとなった。前キャプテン阿久根が作ってきた土台を生かして、レベル別に３つのグループに分けそれぞれの中で競争を促すシステムを始めた。一番上のＡのグループは高校生に混ざって練習した。ほとんどの中学生が高校生の速いテンポの練習についていけず息が上がっていたが、１日も早く慣れ、恵まれた環境を生かしてほしい。Ｂ，Ｃのグループについては顧問と高校生部員数名が指導を行ったが、３０人を超える中学生の指導は容易ではなかった。中学生の指導を通して、今まで阿久根がやってきたことの大変さと意味を強く感じることができた。上のグループに入ることを目指してお互いと競争してほしい。また、半年前とは比べると見違えるほど変わった中学生のテニスに対する姿勢と能力に驚きを覚えた。これも高３生の残した大きな財産である。今後新しいシステムが定着するにはまだまだ時間を要する。サポートする周りが頑張るだけでなく、中学生自身の自主的かつ積極的な行動を期待したい。

中学生を指導する高校生部員 (HS members teaching JH students )

Now that the third-year boys have graduated, the junor high tennis team must practice without them.  Adjusting the system the previous captain of the high school team  had invented, we divided the JH team into three groups (A,B and C) according to the levels.  The boys in Group A joined the high school team's practice today.  They had a hard time keeping up with the high school members as they were not used to the fast pace of the practice.   I hope they will get used to the pace soon and start making most of the opportunity.  A few high school members and I took care of the practice of Group B and C.  There were more than 30 boys in these groups, so the task of controlling them turned out to be much more difficult than I had imagined.  I couldn't help admiring the previous captain's hard work and patience.  I was also impressed by the improvement in the JH boys' attitude and skills.  It's all thanks to the third-year boys' dedication.  It will surely take a lot of time before the new system takes effect.  It requires not only the support from outside but also the junior high boys' autonomous and voluntary action.   I hope the junior high boys will become more competitive with each other to reach yet another level.
